[tap tap tap] Is this thing on??

Bless me, it's been seven years since my last confession...

We did this when Chris went to Kuwait in '03-'04, and it went so well that we were really eager for Chris to get going so we would have a reason to blog again. I kid, of course.

First post, so, the rules.
Rule #1 This blog is (mostly) so Chris can keep up with the kids. And kids, as we all know, are boring as hell, so just remember that no one is making anyone else read this.
Rule #2 When kids are not boring, they are generally either cute or annoying. Sometimes they are sleeping. Very, very rarely, they are all at once. In all cases, Rule #1 still applies.

Oh, perfect example: Cara and her friend (who is staying over tonight) just stopped by to announce that they were bored, and they'd like to clean the porch. I told her that I wasn't really keen on the idea of having her friend over so that they could clean our house, and so she pouted. Boring, annoying, and cute, as advertised.

...now, in the interest of fairness, it was Johnny's turn this morning. He had a soccer game at 9, and the coach had contacted me earlier in the week to organize the team in his absence, which is ok for me on a limited basis, but really you don't want me coaching your kid in any sport beyond T-ball, because I am not very competitive. It's not that I don't try to get the kids to do well, it's just that people look at me kinda funny when I want the kids on the other team to do well, too, and offer suggestions. But on an as-needed basis, no prob. So, we're getting ready this morning, and it's cold, so I lay out a long-sleeve shirt for Johnny to put under his orange team shirt, which, of course, he absolutely refuses to wear, because "it's not cold out." Johnny may have geographic amnesia -- I think he was remembering that it was warm yesterday. In Mississippi. So, no long sleeves. No jacket, either. My mistake, did not bring either with me, so no surprise when he breaks down after having stood out in the mildly chilled, 55 degree air in his short sleeves. Refused to play, sat in the car. The other thing that was happening was that only 3 other players from the orange team showed up, so I borrowed a few from the other team, and we played really well and only lost 3-0. Fun was had, and isn't that what it's all about?

That, and avoiding hypothermia if you are Johnny, I guess.
